Hey it’s me!

Hi, my name is Claire and welcome! I am more commonly called by my last name Beatty or variations of that including Beats, Beatdog, and sometimes if the kids are feeling crazy Beats by Claire. I am 27 years old living and working full-time in New York City. I work in Finance so yes, I am what some would call a “corporate girlie”. Graduating college and entering what we all call the “real world” is weird af. It’s the first time you start to really figure out who you are (which I am convinced we never fully will understand) but it’s also the time at least for me where I learned to really invest in myself and my health. I was diagnosed with a chronic disease at the ripe age of 12 so I had to become in tune with my body quicker than most.

I will share more of that story in another post BUT back to the present. After college I really started to lean into working out and taking fitness classes as not only a way to stay in shape but as mental release. Dedicating 45 mins to an hour each day outside of work to something that is just for me even if its just going on a walk, has helped me tremendously.

Something you should know about me is that once I put my mind to something I am determined to get it done (including starting this blog). For example, I love setting and achieving goals. I was never a runner but the idea of marking my calendar with a running training schedule to achieve a race goal was so appealing to me. Next thing you know I signed up for my first half marathon and that quickly escalated to me running the NYC marathon in 2019.  Some might find this impressive but others are probably thinking “is this chick okay?”. I am always looking to try other fitness regimes to see what not only makes me feel good but what has the right impact on my body. This is an evolving journey and something I am still exploring.

The way I landed here today is that over the past 5 years in my “adulting” era I really started to take care of myself. Despite these efforts my chronic disease had other plans and continued to progress. After another phone call from my doctor with bad news my mind went right to “I just don’t get it. I eat well, I take care of my body, how can my body still be fighting me back?”. This is an extremely frustrating feeling that I know too many people are too familiar with. After expressing this to my sister she suggested I look into IIN. She told me she had a friend take the course and become a certified health coach. IIN stands for Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I took the year long course that allowed me to spend time outside of my corporate job learning more about wholistic and functional medicine. I learned of ways to nourish my body outside of exercise and food. I am and always have been a big believer in functional medicine as I have had my own health coach who was and continues to be an incredible resource for me. After completing the course and graduating in August 2022 I am now a certified health coach.

There is so much more to my health coach journey I will be sharing but in interest of time so I’m not writing a full novel let me share why I am here. I am here because I follow so many wellness influencers/content creators for tips, recipes, wellness inspiration and what not. What I haven't found is someone that is doing this while working a full-time corporate job. The grind of getting a workout in before work, packing your outfit, full skincare regime and food for the workday ahead is REAL. I don’t have the luxury of making a green juice at 11am in my apartment after morning Pilates at 9am because at this point, I'm already glued to my desk listening to what in god’s name is happening to our economy. No shade to those people at all because really, I’m just jealous but it’s not realistic for me. I am here to share what I have learned so far and continue to learn. At the end of the day, I am always looking for ways to better myself. I am always looking to be a better beats. Welcome to my page and I’m excited to start this journey together!!
